Acupuncture
Acupuncture has provided me with a deeper understanding of how life-giving an optimal flow of energy, essence and blood is within the body. It brought me back to safety within my own physical body and brought immense clarity, after nervous conditions and different manifestations of burnout.
Since beginning my work within the world of Chinese Medicine I’ve witnessed some of the most life threatening diseases, chronic stress, post-traumatic stress, severe jaw pain and anxiety ameliorated through a realigning of energy or Qi. The needles help you to help yourself, with a more grounded connection to your meridian channels, extremities and inner workings.
How does acupuncture work?
Energy, or "life force" flows through the body in channels called meridians. Acupuncture utilises ultra-fine hair-like needles to stimulate these channels within the body to move blood/Qi and send messages to the brain that alters brain chemistry. As a result, the body’s natural pain-killers are increased (opiates, endorphins and dopamine) to reduce inflammation, reduce pain, and balance hormone levels.
How can acupuncture assist you?
It’s a highly effective treatment for not only pain relief, but also for thousands of other conditions such as post-traumatic stress, grief/sadness, physical overexertion, addiction, IBS, fatigue, insomnia and chronic pain (neck, shoulder, jaw, migraines). A course of acupuncture generally creates longer lasting pain relief and increased vagal tone than when a single treatment is used.
What types of treatment do you offer?
UNFOLD Pain, UNFOLD Stress, UNFOLD Hormones, and UNFOLD Gut are the most common treatments I administer to treat chronic pain (migraines, neck, shoulder, jaw), nervous conditions (stress, anxiety, insomnia), women’s health (PCOS, PMS symptoms, fertility), and digestive issues (IBS, bloating, indigestion).
How will I feel afterwards?
You should feel a minimum of calm and relaxed after the first treatment. Some people report feeling lighter, some fall asleep, some say it’s like a meditation and some have peaceful visualisations. I always advise to avoid alcohol 24 hours pre and post treatment to avoid interfering with the energy flow and leave the evening or afternoon free for chilling out.
how often should I get acupuncture?
In general, once a week or fortnightly should do the trick. Get acupuncture once a month at the minimum to use it preventatively.
