Movement Sessions
Teaching a private session feels like reshaping a doorway for someone to live in their home; their body with more grace and pleasure. Exploring the places that are perhaps too rigid, controlled or forced, too damp, cold or hot. As a teacher, we oscillate between challenging the habits that people are comfortable with, the ones that simply aren’t working, while also facilitating a space where they see the joy that comes from welcoming a calmer state. To leave them with practices to create their own safe space of stillness with or without my guidance. In sessions with me, we explore stillness, breath, intuition and how you can move slowly, producing less cortisol and all building a strong resilient body that stays with you as you age.
I started practicing yoga at the age of sixteen and have continued to do so ever since. My learnings have drawn from the teachings of martial arts, boxing, dance, floor work and assisted yin yoga. However, through injuries, trauma, and harder experiences, my practice has had to adapt to find a sweet balance between effort and grace. I acknowledge the fact that we cannot just have the fiery practices (HIIT, running, cycling, strength training, gymnastics), we also need the stiller practices (yin yoga, legs up the wall, meditation, baths) in order to not put copious amounts of stress on our adrenals. Through my work, I hope to find some more grounded practices for you to incorporate into your life, while staying physically and mentally strong.
